COST Action ES0806 SIBAE

Context

There is a long tradition of environmental research in Europe, particularly within the framework of Environmental and Global Change, which has been supported by several national and European programs over the last decades. Although stable isotopes provide an indispensable and powerful research tool, they had not yet been well integrated into European Biosphere-Atmosphere-Earth System research across scales and disciplines.

COST Action ES0806 SIBAE specifically focused on addressing this shortcoming with a multi-disciplinary, integrated approach with scientists from a range of disciplines, addressing highly relevant topics such as the turnover of soil carbon, the effect of global change on greenhouse gas exchange between ecosystems and the atmosphere, and the role of biodiversity for ecosystem processes in a changing environment.
