Biosphere-Atmosphere GHG Exchange

Biogeochemical processes within and across ecosystems, particularly the use of light, water and nutrients as well as the exchange of energy and trace gases with the atmosphere (CO2, H2O, CH4, N2O), are at the heart of ecosystem functioning and our ability to manage agroecosystems and forests sustainably. In our projects, we often take a process- and system-oriented approach to study the interactions within and the responses and feedbacks of terrestrial ecosystems to environmental drivers and to management.
